Margaret, born in Kirkby Lonsdale, was General Secretary of the Women’s Co-operative Guild for 32 years. She helped introduce a minimum wage for workers in co-op stores and also wrote several books including Maternity and an autobiography called Life as We Have Known It – both reprinted by Virago.

This talk forms part of our "Painting the Auld Grey Town Red" series of events in 2016.
