Join us for an inspiring talk on the work of "Hope not Hate".  Our November speaker is Jason Hunter. Jason works for Unison in the North West.

Following the election of BNP councillors in Burnley in 2002, Jason helped form a local group of "Hope not Hate", campaigning for over a decade to rid the town of their influence.  He continues to be involved in Hope not Hate, in the struggle against UKIP, right wing populism and far right extremists of all kinds. He brings a trade union perspective to this work, and works significantly on UNISON political campaigning. He will talk about addressing head on the issues of racial tension, immigration, terrorism and Islamaphobia and how a hopeful approach is the ultimate way to draw  insecure, left behind people , worried about the consequences of globalisation, away from the narrow bigotry of the right and heal the tension in our society. All members are welcome at our monthly meetings.
