Why? “The Trouble with Women” is happening in Kendal!
Kendal Community Theatre present another ground-breaking drama festival 19-28 July 2018. It celebrates a century of women’s suffrage and is called The Trouble with Women. Five plays, including new writing and some exciting town-centre street theatre (* see more below) which pays tribute to strong women. It’s just 100 years since women gained the vote and the struggle in Cumbria was robust. The issue cruelly divided friends and families just as keenly as any political argument today.

One of the the organisers said, “Any word-spreading would be good, but we would be delighted to welcome women (and men) on 21st July to be chained to the Birdcage and sing the March of the Women in an exciting piece of street theatre. I hope everyone knows Jacky Fleming’s work – we have ripped off one of her titles (with permission) and she is planning to come across for the Festival.”
