PRESS RELEASE FROM SOUTH LAKES LABOUR – RELEASE IMMEDIATE
“Railways in Chaos” – National Railways Campaign Day by the Labour Party
Across the country rail services are in meltdown and the Tories are failing to stand up for rail passengers. On Monday 25th June the Labour Party is hosting a National Campaign Day to raise awareness of the effect the chaos is having on commuters and to highlight its plans to bring the railways back into public ownership. Members of South Lakes Labour will be out and about as part of the campaign, starting at 7am on Monday morning, handing out leaflets to passengers at Oxenholme Station. The local action on Monday follows on from weeks of campaigning against the cuts to Northern Rail’s services which have hit the Windermere line particularly badly. The Labour Party’s plans to being the railways back into public ownership will put passengers before profits and provide a service that is fit for purpose.
