NOT IN OUR NAME was the theme for an all interested parties, pro – democracy demonstration at Kendal’s New Road Common on Saturday September 7th. Organised by South Lakes Labour Party in protest of the recent parliamentary activity, where by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has prorogued parliament, thus effectively stopping due democratic parliamentary process.
About sixty activists from around Cumbria turned out opposite the Conservative HQ on New Road to vent their opposition to this controversial issue. Several speakers from a diversity of political backgrounds gave colourful variations about what democracy meant to them, whilst scores of passing motorists “Hooted for Democracy” in appreciation.
Pictures show some of the many “colourful” placards along with their owners.
