Votes for Women!

1918 was a milestone in the history of women, for the first time many women were able to vote. It was a huge step forward and the culmination of decades of campaigning and activism. To commemorate this historic moment, South Lakes Labour have put together a small display focusing on some of the many local suffragettes and suffragists.  The display is in Kendal Library from today until 20th May.   If you are in Kendal do pop in and have a look and meet Mary our Suffragette, and find out why she is holding a toothbrush! (No clues, you'll have to go find out for yourself!)
