On Saturday 29th June 2022, South Lakes Labour membership secretary, and local team leader for Strickland and Fell wards, Virginia Branney sporting her Clean River Kent Volunteer t-shirt, welcomed Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Jim McMahon MP to the county.
Jim was keen to visit the South Lakes to talk about water quality. The Lake District is significantly affected by sewage discharges and United Utilities have been accused of not collecting data on Lake Windermere. Virginia is a volunteer with the Clean River Kent Campaign.
The photo shows Virginia and Jim by the River Kent in Staveley, just north of Kendal.
