Pippa Smith, Labour’s candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale in the upcoming General Election, met with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer in Barrow during his visit to the BAE shipyard on April 12.

Starmer used the visit to underline his commitment to the UK’s nuclear deterrent, pledging to build four new nuclear submarines, maintain an at-sea deterrent and invest in future upgrades. He also pledged to back the government’s promised £20m investment fund for Barrow.
